Later that night, James headlined a star-studded charity event at Pier 94 to raise funds of the Thomas Blake Sr. Memorial Fund. BackOffice Associates Serving For A Cure presented by Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, was a rousing success. The event raised money for the Thomas Blake, Sr. Research Fund, which funds cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
The event, attended by celebrities such as musician John Mayer and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, featured a tennis exhibition with James, rising American star Sam Querrey, the World No. 1 doubles team the Bryan Brothers, and a guest coaching appearance by former World No. 1 Andy Roddick.
The tennis portion was followed by an incredible after party that featured a delectable food tasting from notable accomplished New York City chefs, a fashion show that unveiled the spring 2010 line of the Thomas Reynolds Collection by Fila, and an intimate musical performance by multi-Grammy award winning artist Wyclef Jean.
