He is one of the hottest players on the ATP World Tour right now. After a strong finish in 2009 where he was close to qualify for the season-ending ATP Finals and a win in Chennai for his first title of 2010, Marin Cilic faces Andy Roddick in the Quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Tuesday.  Cilic did not have an easy road to this match! During a four-plus hour match against US Open Champion Juan Martin del Potro, Cilic showed the world that he had what it takes to go head to head against the top players in the world. Roddick and Cilic have a 9-0 match record in 2010.  This is a match that should not be missed!

ESPN.com interviewed Marin’s coach Bob Brett yesterday in Australia and Brett had this to say about Marin’s development since the US Open and the upcoming match aginst Roddick:

“Definitely the win against Murray in New York was very good, and then against Davydenko, Nadal and Verdasco,” Bob Brett, Cilic’s venerable coach, said before practice Monday. “He’s just become more aggressive. Now he’s stronger, fitter, and he’s able to sustain it for a longer period of time. Playing these guys more often, it’s possible to learn.”
