After making her debut on the WTA Tour in 2004, Agnes or “Agi” really made her presence known in 2007. Beginning the year ranked 185, the phenom shot up the rankings by advancing to the singles final at New Haven. Winning singles titles in Palermo, Beijing and Zagreb, Agi attained a career high ranking of number 19 in November. The Hungarian is also a force to be reckoned with on the doubles scene. Beginning the year ranked 105, she finished at number 26 with wins at Budapest and Zagreb. Agi made her top 20 dream, a reality in 2007 and was recognized as the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour “Newcomer of the Year” for her 2007 achievements. The Hungarian Sports Federation named her the “Best Athlete for 2007”.
Agi was introduced to tennis at age 6 by her parents at the local tennis club and is coached by Jozsef Bolskay and Zoltan Kuhrszky. She likes listening to pop music and playing any ball sports. Her favorite city to visit is Melbourne. Agi also gives back to her community as an Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity.
